Bangkok: The Capital City
Bangkok, also called Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, is Thailand’s largest city and economic center. It has the world’s longest official place name:
“Krung Thep Maha Nakhon Amorn Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udom Ratchaniwet Maha Sathan Amorn Pimarn Awatarn Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit.”
This translates to: “City of angels, great city of immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnates.”
Despite its full name holding a Guinness World Record, most people simply call it “Bangkok” or “Krung Thep” for short.
