Looking for a relaxing seaside escape not too far from Bangkok? Hua Hin is the perfect destination, loved by both local and international travellers. With its charming coastline, laid back vibe and variety of beautiful beaches, it’s no wonder Hua Hin is a top getaway spot. Each beach has its own unique charm, scenery, and accommodations. Here are some of the most popular beaches in Hua Hin that you should definitely explore at least once!

Hua Hin Beach

The heart of Hua Hin, this iconic beach stretches over 4 kilometres from the city centre all the way to Khao Takiab. The soft white sand and calm atmosphere make it less crowded than beaches in places like Pattaya. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding, sunbathing on deck chairs, or simply cooling off in the sea. The area also offers a wide range of delicious dining options perfect for those wanting to relax with great food by the ocean.

📍 Location: Hua Hin Beach

Khao Takiab Beach

Located at the southern end of Hua Hin, this beach spans over 20 kilometres and is known for its rocky shoreline and peaceful ambiance. It is home to a hilltop temple popular among locals and tourists alike. Khao Takiab is also known for its friendly troop of macaques that roam freely near the beach. With scenic views and plenty of beachfront restaurants, it’s a must visit for those looking for a cultural and natural experience.

📍 Location: Khao Takiab Beach

Sai Noi Beach

Tucked away in Pranburi just past Khao Tao Sai Noi Beach is a hidden gem. It’s only 200 metres long but offers beautiful views and a tranquil setting. The beach has a natural slope with gentle waves, often forming soft white foam. With its scenic sunrise and sunset views, it’s the perfect spot for quiet contemplation or a relaxed stroll.

📍 Location: Sai Noi Beach

Suan Son Pradipat Beach

One of the highly cherished beaches in Hua Hin, Suan Son Pradipat is maintained by the Thai military, which keeps it peaceful and well-preserved. Just 15 minutes from the town centre, it’s lined with tall pine trees offering plenty of shade. Ideal for a quiet beach day. Horseback riding is also a popular activity here, and despite the presence of horses, the beach remains impressively clean.

Phi Phi Islands

Phuket are considered one of the most stunning gems of the Andaman Sea. With its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and towering limestone cliffs surrounding the islands, it has become a paradise for nature lovers. It is also a must-visit destination when in Phuket.

My first trip to Phi Phi Islands was in 2015, and I went without a proper plan, opting for a speedboat tour. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a disappointing experience because the boat was overcrowded, and some people had to sit on the floor as there were no seats available. As a result, I missed visiting several spots on the islands. However, this experience taught me the importance of planning ahead. This time, I’m planning to stay for three nights on Phi Phi to explore all the island’s attractions properly.

For those planning to visit Phi Phi, here are some must visit spots

Maya Bay: Famous for being the filming location of the movie The Beach, it features white sandy beaches and crystal-clear blue waters, surrounded by limestone cliffs. It’s an excellent spot for snorkeling and photography.

Pi Leh Lagoon: Known for its emerald-green waters and surrounded by lush mangrove forests, the lagoon offers a peaceful and natural atmosphere.

Viking Cave: This limestone cave is home to ancient cave paintings and a habitat for swiftlets and various bird species, making it a fascinating destination for those interested in both history and nature.

Bamboo Island: A small island with white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, perfect for a quiet retreat and relaxation.

Ton Sai Bay: The lively centre of Phi Phi Don Island, where you’ll find various restaurants, shops, and accommodations. There are also bars and entertainment spots for a vibrant nightlife experience.

To get to Phi Phi Islands from Phuket, there are several transportation options:

Ferry: Takes about 1.5-2 hours from Phuket, offering a relaxed journey and beautiful views of the Andaman Sea.

Speedboat: Ideal for those in a hurry, with a travel time of about 45 minutes from Phuket.

Charter Boat: Perfect for tour groups or private events, allowing more flexibility in scheduling.

The best time to visit is between November and April, during the dry season with plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for water activities. However, the rainy season from May to October can offer a quieter and more peaceful experience, with fewer tourists.

By preparing in advance, your trip to Phi Phi Islands can become an unforgettable experience. Don’t forget to bring a camera to capture the breathtaking beauty of the islands and the sea. For accommodation, you can choose from a variety of hotels, bungalows, or bnb that suit your needs.
