<p data-start="508" data-end="898"><strong data-start="511" data-end="532">Meaning &amp; Beliefs</strong><br data-start="532" data-end="535" />The festival is a way of paying respect to the <strong data-start="582" data-end="622">Goddess of Water (Phra Mae Khongkha)</strong> and thanking her for providing water throughout the year. Floating the krathong also symbolizes <strong data-start="719" data-end="765">letting go of anger, grudges, and bad luck</strong>, allowing for a fresh start. Some people even place strands of hair or nail clippings inside as a way of letting go of negativity.</p>

<p class="" data-start="357" data-end="586">However, if you plan to explore more remote parts of Kanchanaburi, such as mountainous or forested areas, be prepared for winding roads and sharp curves. These areas might be a bit challenging for new or less experienced drivers.</p>
<h3 class="" data-start="588" data-end="632"><strong data-start="592" data-end="632">Is It Hard to Drive to Kanchanaburi?</strong></h3>
<p class="" data-start="634" data-end="849">Not really. The main route is smooth and straightforward. But if you&#8217;re not confident driving on hilly or curvy terrain, it might be more relaxing and safer to <strong data-start="794" data-end="822">hire a car with a driver</strong> or <strong data-start="826" data-end="848">join a guided tour</strong>.</p>
<p class="" data-start="851" data-end="1106">Alternatively, you can take a <strong data-start="881" data-end="889">taxi</strong> from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. Prices vary depending on the vehicle size and service provider but typically start around <strong data-start="1010" data-end="1024">1,500 Baht</strong>. There are plenty of taxi and private transfer services available to choose from.</p>
